Dr. Jerry Sambuaga is the Vice Minister of Trade of Republic of Indonesia in the Kabinet Indonesia Maju. He was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 25 October 2019.

Prior to becoming Vice Minister, Dr. Jerry Sambuaga has served as Member of Parliament of Commission I (dealing with foreign affairs, defense, intelligence, communication and informatics) from Golkar Faction representing North Sulawesi constituency. He has also served as Lecturer in Politics, International Relations and Government at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Universitas Sam Ratulangi, London School of Public Relations, Universitas Pertamina, Universitas Paramadina, and Universitas Indonesia.

Dr. Jerry Sambuaga also holds various strategic position in Golkar Party, the oldest political party in Indonesia and the second largest in the parliament in term of 2019-2024. Currently, he is the Chairman of Trade Division, as well as the Chairman of the Research and Development Division of the Central Board Council. He also sits on the Board of the Policy Committee of Golkar Party. Besides his positions in the Golkar Party, Dr. Jerry Sambuaga is also the Vice Chairman of the Golkar Institute, the first higher educational institution established by a political party in Indonesia.

Vice Minister Jerry Sambuaga graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Politics from University of San Francisco, Master’s Degree of International Affairs from Columbia University, and achieved his Ph.D in Political Science from Universitas Indonesia.
