As the Asian region becomes a new driver of global economic growth, strengthening economic connections, trade and investment in the region and further deepening regional economic cooperation is conducive to a sustainable economic development. Hong Kong is not only a gateway to China, but also an Asia-Pacific financial and business center. It has been playing an important role as a regional hub in East Asia for many years.
Initiated by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) in 2010, the Hong Kong Summit brings together ministerial-level and principal officials, business leaders, experts and academics from Hong Kong, the Mainland and East Asian countries to explore the prospect of economic cooperation and sustainable development within the region, as well as to discuss Hong Kong’s roles and functions in promoting regional collaboration.
Together with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), CGCC will once again organise the Hong Kong Summit in July 2017. The Summit is one of the major events in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s reunification with China. The supporting organisations include the HKSAR Government, the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Fully supported by government authorities, business entities and professional bodies across the region, the Summit will continue its role as an important platform where decision-makers from the government, business and academic sectors at home and abroad come together to exchange ideas and share insights on how regional integration can provide renewed momentum for economic growth.
